New Ferrari to debut in Bahrain
Ferrari will race its new F2005 car for the first time in Bahrain next week as the reigning world champions look to improve on a disappointing start to the Formula One season.
"In the next race we will have the new car on the track," said Jean Todt. "The tests we have had at Mugello this week, where our drivers took the car out for the first time, have confirmed its potential."
Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher both tested the F2005 at Mugello this week and both racers said they were impressed with the new car describing it as a ‘good step forward.'
"We will have two F2005, one for each driver, while the for the spare, we will use one of the F2004 M used in Australia and Malaysia," Todt confirmed. "The contrasting results of the first two races gave us a positive incentive. Along with Bridgestone, we decided to accelerate the development programme and we believe that the combination of various new elements – car and tyre – will allow us to move back on the attack after two Grand Prix on the defensive."
"I have to say I am very happy with the way the team and all our partners have reacted to try and quickly return to our true level of competitiveness," Todt concluded.
