Michael Optimistic for Montreal
The United States and Canada are definitely two of the four times world champion’s favourite holiday destinations.
Michael said  “I  like  the  circuit  a  lot,  even if it is not one of  my  outright  favourites.  But for whatever reason, I have always  gone  well  in  Montreal,  even if the circuit does not particularly  suit  my  driving  style.  I  tend  to  prefer  fast corners  and  there  are  none  of  these,  so  I  can’t   really explain  it.”
“Monaco  went  well for us and the most important thing  was that   we  increased   our  advantage  in  the  championship, "
“Nothing is certain. There are too many factors involved and tyres  are  obviously  enormously  important  on  a  track like Montreal, which is not a true permanent race  track. We saw in Monaco that tyres can be the decisive factor. On the other hand,  we  also  did  well  in  Imola, a  circuit  which  did not suit us last year. Therefore  I  think  we  can  be  reasonably optimistic  for  Montreal.  We  just  have  to wait and we will only have a clearer idea after Friday’s first practice session. Last  year,  we  did  not  go  so well in Canada, but hopefully things  will  be  different  this  time  around.”
It is clear  that the  F2002  puts the Bridgestone tyres under less stress than last year’s car and Michael explained it thus: “It  means  the  car  is  better  and  does  not  give  the tyres such  a  hard  time.  Furthermore,  the  temperatures  are not as   high   as   before   and   this   means   the  lap times have improved.”  This  means  better  results on tracks which were supposed   to  suit  the  Michelins  and that could be the case in  Canada.
