Final day at Mugello - Michael breaks Mugello Record                                  and crashes in testing

For the second day running, Michael Schumacher was doing the driving, continuing with development work on the F2002.
Testing   began  at  9   this  morning,  but  ended  ahead  of schedule  at  11.40  after  a  technical  problem at the front end  of  the  car  led  to  an off-track excursion. The driver was  uninjured,  however the damage to the car could not be repaired in the pits.

Up to that point,  Schumacher  had  done 38 laps with a best time  of  1'21"690  ( a new  record  for  the  Mugello circuit. The  previous  record  was  set  last  month by Ferrari's test driver, Luca Badoer, with a time of 1:22.016 ) .

Today, it  was  Michael  Schumacher  who  was  behind   the wheel of an F2002, continuing with  development  work  and testing various types of tyre. He completed a total of 41 laps, with a best time of 1’22”393.
